About Spool
A life, kept.
Spool records the conversations your devices hear and keeps them, so you can go back to what was said, who said it and when.
Why Spool
The best moments happen once. A first date, a toast, the night something finally works, a story your dad tells for the fortieth time. Later you remember how it felt, and the words are gone.
You shouldn't have to choose between living a moment and keeping it. Nobody wants to hold up a phone at their own wedding. Spool records from the pendant, the recorder, the phone or the watch you already have, and turns the day into something you can search.
Your recordings are yours
- Delete any stretch of time, from every device that heard it. Ask for an export of everything whenever you like.
- Mark a place private and recordings made there stay off maps, recaps and answers.
- We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
- We don't train AI models on your recordings.
We also try to be plain about what runs where. Transcription and speaker recognition run on hardware Spool operates. Every outside service that touches your data is listed in the Privacy Policy, with what it receives.
The vision
From your first date to the stories you tell your grandkids.
Leo, from the story on our home page. He is fictional and the photos are illustrations.
We think of Spool as a record of a life. The first date. The 3 AM argument over code. The toast. The first word. Decades later, the same stories at the dinner table, with the grandkids pretending they haven't heard them.
Recorded speech keeps something photos can't: the voice. Some day, someone you love may want to hear yours.
Coming Share your Spool with the people you choose, so they can hear you.
